In the summer of 2010 Jessica A. Hunt was commissioned by the Gaudete Brass Quintet to write a 10 minute chamber work for Organ and Brass Quintet. Three Impromptus is the result of that commission.

Recorded in September 2010 by the Gaudete Brass Quintet and organist R. Benjamin Dobey, Three Impromptus is featured on the CD “Conversations in Time – Music for Brass Quintet and Organ” which was released in 2011 on the Pro Organo label.

Three Impromptus employs lyric brass writing and textural organ work amidst a framework of polychords and tonally inflected row subsets.
