ABOUT ASTRI ORION

Astri Orion (2007) (ca. 6′ 15″)

Astri Orion was originally conceived as a four movement work for string quartet meant to be an abstract exploration of the different stars and star clusters that belong to the constellation Orion (the Head, the Sword, the Knees, and the Belt).  While only one of the movements has been completed, (originally relating to the left shoulder, the head, and the right shoulder), the loose ABA structure lends itself well to being a stand-alone work and may be performed as such.

This first movement of Astri Orion was premiered in late 2007 by members of the International Contemporary Ensemble (heard on the recording above).

The score and parts to Astri Orion are published by Glenlake Press.  To purchase, click here.
