Concert Music

“…a fine composer with a great lyric gift” – Johanna Keller, music critic and former editor of Chamber Music magazine

With a unique sensibility for combining experimental techniques with accessible aesthetics, Jessica A. Hunt creates a sonic world in which both the casual listener and the classical connoisseur can find common footing. Hunt’s music has been heard from coast to coast, including Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York City, broadcast on FM radio and PBS television, released on the Pro Organo label, and played by some of today’s finest ensembles and soloists, including the International Contemporary Ensemble, Oliver Brewer, Dal Niente, the Fear No Music Ensemble, R. Benjamin Dobey and the Gaudete Brass Quintet. Her concert commissions range from the Columbia College Chicago Jazz Ensemble to the Gaudete Brass Quintet to the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. Equally at home writing for piano, brass, winds, and strings as she is setting text for solo or ensemble voice, Hunt’s engaging orchestrations and clever prosody imbue her compositions with an idiomatic expertise that performers and listeners alike can recognize.

“…truly outstanding.” – Scott Tegge, tuba player for the Gaudete Brass Quintet
